Since I am adamant about not bringing technology on this trip... meaning no cell phones or computers, I think this will provide the assurance our families need that there are no problems.
It has several functions including a 911 beacon, SPOT Tracker in real time, and check in function which allows us to send a pre determined communication letting them know where we are on Google Maps.
It will be about $140 for the unit, plus $99 for the one year subscription, and $7.95 for the rescue insurance... ;-)
